MAADI 07

The biggest secoundary schools rowing event in New Zealand was hosted at Lake Karapiro from the 26th to the 30th of march.

208 schools and over 2000 rowers competed for the Maadi Cup.

I raced in the under 16 8, under 16 4 and under 18 novice 4 races. In the under 16 8 we went through to a B final and came 6th (14th in nz), and in our under 18 novice four we also competed in a B final and came 4th (12th in nz)....... not bad aye!!!!!!! our coaches were very happy with our results.

On the 2nd day of Maadi our school had the tedious honour of boat holding, (for those of you who don't know what that is its holding the boats while lying on a pontoon waiting for the starter to go).

On the last day all the finals were held and while the last 2 races (under 18 8s) raced for the maadi cup everyone else was swapping their maadi shirts, school shirts and race shirts.
